My love of colour and design is expressed through the use of still – life and landscape in my paintings. I try and incorporate both in one piece of work , often overlapping images so that the eye is taken around the surface of the paper or canvas . Using acrylic paints makes it easier to achieve a texture , as well as thin washes which can be applied one on top of the other . An added dimension is “collage” which I use in small areas – this provides depth and a different feel to the work. These might be images taken from a magazine, or coloured papers which I have bought or dyed myself. I always hope the viewer will find something unexpected in my work.
